Hiking the Duke a second time.......
I was able to talk 6 more people into hiking 'The Duke' mountain with me this time. Two of my team members, three translators and one of their girlfriends joined the hiking excursion. We packed up the Land Cruisers and away we went. Three hours later with many breaks along the way, all 7 of us reached the peak. We celebrated, took in the sites, gave words of encouragement to each other and kicked a soccer ball down the side in symbolism for peace and hope for Kosovo. We then took a 2 hour stroll back down the ridge line....told each other funny stories, talked about our families and how we couldn't wait to sit and rest our feet. It was certainly a multi-ethnic success with 2 Minnesotans, 1 Wisconsinite, 2 Albanian, 1 Macedonian and 1 Serbian. I'd hike a mountain with this warm-hearted group any day!
Get used to being in charge now, because there is a born leader deep inside of you. If your group needs a change, you've got plenty of ideas that should rock the boat just enough without swamping it. Start making noises early on so people are primed when the crisis hits
Keep going strong... We need you! Good exposure for everyone... Good writing and fun to read blog!
