Gjilane Fishing Contest

The past few days have been what Gjilane citizens call Ramadani Celebration. It is a few days of remembering a famous KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army, Albanian) Brigade Commander by the name of Agim Ramadani. His brother, who is currently the Minister of Public Health in Gjilane invited our team to participate in a fishing contest today in honor of his late brother, who enjoyed fishing at Livoc Dam. Two of our team members and one of our translators took part in the 4 hour fishing contest, while the rest of us enjoyed visiting with local government officials, their families and other citizens out for a Sunday afternoon. Our team didn't win the contest, there were many expert fishing members that caught many more. The Minister of Public Health, Mr. Ramadani did present SFC France with a KFOR cooperation medal to thank us for being apart of their time honored tradition and to remember his brother's sacrifice.

Everyone had so much fun and the locals enjoyed our company so much that we've been invited to participate in another fishing contest in June. I just think I might fish next time and show em how it's done!
